Monday Morning Inspiration Situation
11/9
Start your day off today with a couple of “Do Lectures” today. The concept is pretty simple: invite a smattering of the most brilliant minds from around the word and have them talk for a half hour about what they “Do.” That may sound like an affront to artist Mike Mills “human beings vs. human doings” work, but it’s not. Do lecturers include writers, artists, activists, creators and surfers.
First up is Los Angeles artist Geoff McFetridge, who puts design on its head in his talk–highlights include statements about working with “cliches you’ve never heard of.”
Once you’ve digested everything that Geoff “Does,” take a look at Michael Fordham’s speech. Michael wrote “The Book of Surfing” and tries to explain the merits of obsessing about surfing to an audience of non-surfers. You may take issue with his description of our way of life as a perpetual state of “beautiful meaninglessness” at first, but watch on, he’ll win you over.
