In 1998, Tropical Storm Frances devastated the Galveston, Texas area and left an environmental and legal nightmare in its wake. The storm exposed how vulnerable the Texas shoreline is to erosion. Rebar, septic tanks, tires and sheet metal were torn from seaside buildings and strewn along the beach. Ida’s passing through revealed more of the same problems.

What a great time to be a Texan! This past Tuesday we went to the polls and laid claim to our beaches by passing Constitutional Proposition 9.
